Right before a phoenix dies it lays teo eggs, a white and a black one. Out of the white one the phoneix gets reborn later... but what's in the black one nobody knows.
This is what comes out, a rare species of birds, more seldom than the phoenix itself. He only gets born when a black phoenix egg falls into the sea, a river or lake. He lives in the water until the sun goes down, and when it's dark and nobody watches he comes out, spreads his mighty wings and sails with the wind across the sky, breathing in enough air to spend the next day under the water's surface again.

Ah, this took me a long time to finish. I had started it half a year ago already, but after doing the lineart I was too lazy to complete it. I finally did. Oh, I'm so proud of myself.
I don't often use watercolours, I probably suck at it, but this time it worked.. well, the result is acceptable, I think.

Unfortunately most people seem to always just reproduce creatures, things, imaginations, that other people or other cultures had already made up centuries ago, and that a million of people had painted, drawn, sculpted and written stories about yet. It's a little sad, for such works influence our own imagination, and who knows what a phoenix would look like if we had no drawings seen, no creatures shown in movies?
My birdy here will probably never find it's way into any book or mystic-creature-encyclopedia, but it's new at least.
I'm really glad you like it, it's always uplifting when people say such things. Thank you~

I usually prefer to make up my own creatures and stories that give them a reason to exist, sadly I'm sometimes a lazy bastard and hardly figure out something that's completely new. Like an animal that does not look like a bird or dog or horse or fish or human being. The most creative part is the story sometimes..

Those water colours really were a challenge. I use to browse through pictures on dA, for example, and I think oh goodness, why can't I paint like that with watercolours, because when some people do it it looks so easy.. they simply paint over paper and canvas, and every piece their brush touches turns out to be perfect. And when they are done the result makes your jaw drop, they smile, put their tools away, and leave. And one is left staring at the colour and still thinking why it can't be that easy for one's self.
They say it's a matter of practice. As always. Huh... I sometimes doubt such things.
I would like the colours to look more decent, lighter, and more translucent. However.
Thank you again

I really wasn't sure what people would think about it.. because - as we had it before - the things I really like usually just don't get seen. Hah,I should always complain about it, if that's the result.

Acceptable. It was more a synonym of "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" ( eh, this is still too short to match your word construction) That's what it reminded me of at least..
You know, I said acceptable because I imagined something else, originally.. I thought about clear water and ice and something translucent where the light would shine through..... And now it's blue. Water is blue, too, though. I didn't totally fail. And I overcame my watercolour-phobia, that means I can force myself to finish another watercolour picture that I started long long time ago, in a land far far away... I'm still waiting for the happy ending.
Awe, thanks for the love, it loves you too, for sure.

yeah, tends to happen. People don't like what you're most proud of, or vise-versa.
And yes they did ^^
